Clothing

Nordstrom

Pros- great variety; have great sales; great return policy; basically I just love to shop at Nordstrom

Cons- will sell out and not always restock the item (But really Nordstrom’s is great)

Nordstrom Rack

Pros- great prices on a lot of higher end brands, when there is a clear the rack event the clearance is another 25% off (this applies online too!); can find items for literally a penny; get a lot of stuff that Nordstrom still has in stores; great return policy

Cons- better selection in store than online, do not always get a full size run

Hautelook

Pros- great deals on high end items, inventory is refreshed at least once a day with new items, can return to Nordstrom Rack or via the mail

Cons- see it buy it due to event time constraints, no store locations so cannot try items on, will cancel orders or parts of orders without notifying you (and believe me this can drive me insane!)

Planet Blue

Pros- great variety of designers; good sales; has store locations; has the best sample sale in LA called the PB flea market

Cons- can get very pricey; hard to know what size to wear without being able to try it on

Old Navy

Pros- great for trendy items; always having sales; many different pieces for many different styles; free shipping over $50; easy to return/ exchange

Cons- not the best quality to last through the years; not always cut consistently ( can wear many different sizes in different items)

Bloomingdales

Pros- great sales on a lot of classic pieces (Bloomies often has 25% off sales that are applicable to most brands, they also allow you to combined coupons); 365 return policy; free shipping and returns when a loyalist (its free!)

Cons- carry a limit stock of most brands, sales do not include high end brands like Gucci, send packages via UPS with signature so often get sent to UPD drop off points for you to have to pick up (this can be solved by getting a UPS account but that’s not as easy as it seems)

Poshmark

Pros- ability to make offers; wide variety of clothes; does not charge tax if you live in CA; great phone app and a website

Cons- only have 3 days to accept the package; shipping charged regardless of what you buy; people describe their own items so do not always describe them accurately; limited returns; have to be wary of fakes; not always brand new so look for New With Tags (NWT) for new items (also the boutique feature is good for this)

Mercari (note this is an App you need to download)

Pros- great deals (seller only pays 10% of sale); ability to make offers; does not charge tax if you live in CA

Cons- cannot return (generally- if item is not authentic or not as described then you can); have to accept the order within 3 days of package being delivered; not the best customer service but this has been improving; phone/tablet application and therefore no website; also have to be wary of fakes

Fashionphile

Pros- very well curated collection with great descriptions (often the items are in very very good condition); super nice dust bags; has retail locations; has sales and an ebay outlet; great return policy (30 days) and authenticity guarantee

Cons- have to pay tax if live in CA; not as big of a vintage collection

The Real Real

Pros- authenticated before listed; returns on items that are not final sale; has great sales (sometimes up to 50% off); carries all designer goods (not just purses); has a great phone app

Cons- always have to pay for shipping; charges tax if you live in CA; does not come in the nicest dust bags

Tradesy

Pros- can make offers; no tax; great sales; some very trusted sellers like Trendlee and Bagriculture; wide range of styles and products; can return for Tradesy credit and full refund if not authentic; Tradesy will let you send it in to them for free if you question authenticity

Cons- Tradesy tries to weed out fakes but still have to be cautious; sellers are third parties using Tradesy as a platform so sometimes they have already sold the item

Vestiaire Collective

Pros-good customer service; ability to make offers (on certain items); does have sales; does quality control and checks for authenticity before sending it to you

Cons- mainly a european company so can be harder to get ahold of them; shipping is very expensive to the US (but no tax and often have free shipping codes)

Poshmark

Pros- ability to make offers; wide variety of purses; does not charge tax if you live in CA; great phone app and a website

Cons- only have 3 days to accept the package; shipping charged regardless of what you buy; people describe their own items so do not always describe them accurately; limited returns; have to be wary of fakes

Mercari (note that this is an app you would need to download!)

***when utilizing Tradesy, Poshmark or Mercari I recommend having the bag authenticated and having done some research on what makes an authentic bag for that designer. I personally use Authenticate First . Its around $20 (for a certificate of authenticity- only $10 just for an opinion) and gives you peace of mind. Plus if it is not authentic then you can return the item to all three of these websites within a certain time frame for your money back!

Shoes

DSW

Pros- great clearance deals (70% off when the sticker is green); a variety of brands and shoes

Cons- Some of the shoes are not really on much of a sale so always make sure to check prices

T.J. Maxx

Pros- good variety of shoes; has trendy shoes at reasonable prices, the yellow tag sale is amazing

Cons- better selection in store than online, do not always get a full size run of shoes, a lot of the shoes are the copy of the original ( this is a pro and con as it makes the trend shoes that might only be in for a season way more reasonable)

Nordstrom Rack

Pros- great prices on a lot of higher end brands, when there is a clear the rack event the clearance shoes are another 25% off (this applies online too!); can find shoes for a penny; sometimes have the same shoes as Nordstrom but for cheaper

Cons- better selection in store than online, do not always get a full size run of shoes

Hautelook

Pros- great deals on high end items, inventory is refreshed at least once a day with new items, can return to Nordstrom Rack

Cons- see it buy it due to event time constraints, no store locations so cannot try items on, will cancel orders or parts of orders without notifying you (and believe me this can drive me insane!)
